When your friend offers to work on your car, just say no.
(unless your friend works at Terry Sayther Automotive)
By Bryan Eagle

A customer brought his E32 1990 735iin to have his cylinder head repaired/ replaced. When we gave him an approximate cost for the job, he decided to find someone else to do the job for cheaper. That person ended up being a friend who offered to do the job for much, much less. After a month of waiting for his car to be finished, the customer finally got the car back. After driving it for a few days, the customer realized that something wasn't right. Finally it stopped driving all together and he had it towed here. We opened up the motor and saw that the timing chain had come loose and the valves had been chewed by the pistons. Beware of people who say they can do complex auto repair jobs for cheap prices, it may cost you much, much more in the end.
