May 2002---Let's Go To Germany
May 6, Day 1
Monday morning Debbie and Terry and our friend Gerron Hite boarded the plane in Austin, flew
to Dallas, boarded another plane for Frankfurt and flew forever (it seemed).
May 7, Day 2
No sleep, very tired. Caught the train to Bremen from the airport (Debbie already had the tickets--
--wow!). Rode along the Rhine watching beautiful castles pass by. Finally got to sleep around
7PM.
May 8, Day 3
Feeling better after 12 hours sleep, we jumped another train for the short ride to Bremerhaven;
AND THERE'S THE CAR!!
Debbie has all the paperwork in order and, after a short visit to
German customs in an
old Nazi building
we are on the road! Our first stop was 50 meters down the road for lunch at the German Maritime Museum,
where Debbie received her first Euro-butt pinch. Then south on country roads where the local
cops expressed great interest in our non-Euro license plates.
