Installation is straightforward if you already know how to do it. With the several pages of easy to follow instructions supplied with the kit and a few years of BMW diagnostic experience like Ralph Garcia has, you too should be able to do the installation in less than three hours. Start with the removal of the instrument cluster, completely disassemble it, and remove the stock black gauge faces. The new white faces slide into place without removing the needles, and the cluster is ready for reassembly.

The new faces have a wiring harness that activates the electroluminescence function. If you carefully follow the supplied instructions you may discover, as we did, that those fine instructions have a little less to do with reality than you might like. We found a way to route the wires, tapped into the light switch for power, and installed the extra rheostat next to the stock light switch as directed. Reinstalling the cluster and under dash panels completed the job.

These pictures show the installation on an 1997 M3 belonging to Alan Whiting, and as you can see, the gauges look very professional and high tech in their white daytime mode, but with the lights on they turn orange and look really COOL. The rheostat allows you to brighten or dim the lights to suit your taste and light conditions. These things look great.
