For
drivers of BMWs with the M20 6 cylinder motor, this is
as critical as having oil in the engine or coolant in
the reservoir: You MUST change your timing belt at least once
every 50,000 miles or four years (whichever is
first). We have seen many people pass the 100,000
mile mark before getting it changed, & those folks (while
foolish) are the lucky ones. Those who are less fortunate have
to spend thousands of dollars to replace the motor that the
broken belt destroyed,
or even worse to junk the car. |

Check out this
old, worn timing belt from a 1990 325i convertible. It's actually
surprising
that this belt survived being removed from the motor. If you
have an E30 325i, e, is, es,
an E28 528e, or an early E34 525i you have a timing belt &
it is imperative that you keep
on top of it to keep your BMW running & running &
running...
