Early 90's V8 Coolant Fountain
by Bryan Eagle

The V8 motors of the early 1990s (530i, 540i, 740i, etc) featured an aluminum coolant pipe that was responsible for channeling coolant from the water pump to the back of the motor. Sometimes these water tubes fail by splitting and letting the coolant leak out while the system is under pressure. If you have an unknown coolant leak in your BMW from this era, this may be the problem. We track coolant leak problems with a coolant pressure tester.
