And Then the Dreaded Carburetor Tuning

Actually, it's no big deal. The idle mixture screws come set at about 2 turns out, which is close enough to get things started. A final adjustment of the screws to give the highest possible idle speed is all it takes. The warmed up engine then gets a final idle speed adjustment with another screw, and then all that's left is the fast idle adjustment. Actually, that last one is the hardest because it has to be done cold and then during the adjustment the engine warms up. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get it right. Once the adjustment is right the choke will close when the engine is cold and open when it's warm, the idle speed will be about 1300rpm during the warm-up phase, dropping to around 800-900rpm when warm. Purrr-fect.

So, What'll She Do?

Pin you back in your seat, is what. Both barrels open at the same time and gas squirts into them both making for instantaneous throttle response. Let me say that another way: when you push on the gas pedal, the car goes. Just like you want it to.
